10 November 1877 There is a brief report of the crime in Aris's Birmingham Gazette Saturday 10 November p.6 col.7: STEALING A DONKEY. - Joseph Terry (11), Willis Street, was sent to gaol for fourteen days, had ordered to be detained in a reformatory school for five years, for stealing a donkey on the 18th ult., belonging to Joseph Knowles, of Nechells.

6 May 1881 Stealing crue(?) from granary - 4 strokes on the hands, solitary confinement 12 hours, and bread and water for supper

27 July 1881 5 strokes on the hands for fighting

1 January 1882 J Terry licensed this day to Mr Moor of Moor Street, Birmingham and to reside with his stepfather Mr Greenhill

14 January 1882 Joseph Terry calls and tells me that he likes his work and is in receipt of 6s per week

22 February 1882 Terry readmitted and licence revoked

1 October 1882 Licensed to Mr Davies. Alum Rock Road
