Notes:

23 May 1881 Wrote to Dare this day, informing him that his term would expire on 24th. Hoped he would try and come to see me.

5 June 1881 As we were coming from church in the evening, the boys pointed to Dare as he was walking leisurely from church in the same direction as we were going. He was in company with others. I invited him to come across to me but he kept on his course. He was very respectably attired. And judging from outward appearance I should imagine he is doing well. I must write him again and have an interview

25 June 1881 Dare calls and gives a good account of himself. He is working for the Small Arms and Metal Company, 46 Johnson Street, Nechells, Cattell Grove, Birmingham.

30 September 1881 Doing well
