QUEENS HEAD INN
This hostelry was situated at 28 Woodhouse Street and was first listed in 1874.
In over 150 years there were only 9 different licensees,
which is rather different from today's trends of rapidly changing staff.
1874 Jane Bonell 1880-1881 William Severn
1882-1883 John Watson 1884-1891 Mrs. Watson
1892 E. Moorhouse 1893-1895 Mrs. Watson
1896-1901 Jason Alfred Butler 1902-1933 Alfred J. Davenport (Wife Alice Eliza, nee Robbins)
1934-1949 George Arthur Wiggins 1950-1953 Mrs. R. M. A. Wiggins
It seems that Mrs. Watson had 2 spells at the pub but it is always possible that the Directories made a
mistake and Moorhouse may never have been there.
